What is your Next Act? The shoulds and the ‘have tos’ generally dictate what we create in our lives, and then we get stuck in a vicious cycle having to meet our ‘to dos’ and shoulds.
A World of Wonder
Remember when the world was opening up to us as children? So full of wonder and possibility. Twirling on the grassy front lawn, imagining we were dancers, or setting up jumps for our skateboards, imagining we were race car drivers. What happened to that sense of wonder?
I had a grandmother who taught me I could live my life in any powerful way I chose, and to be creative and confident in what I knew. Well, school happened! They got the better of me! “Who was I to think I could…”
The status quo thinking convinces us that we can’t. But I’m here to tell you we can!
So How Do We Break Through?
So how do we bust through that cycle??? Dreaming! Yes, dreaming! We have been taught to be realistic and to stop dreaming! That that gets us nowhere. And guess what? Dreaming actually does get us somewhere! It is the key.
You see, when we dream, when we ask what we would love – versus what we need, or should, or even could do – we are actually answering the call of our true nature.
Wallace Wattles writes in his book, The Science of Getting Rich: “One’s right to life means his right to have the free and unrestricted use of all the things which may be necessary to his fullest mental, spiritual, and physical unfoldment… No one ought to be satisfied with little if he is capable of using and enjoying more. The purpose of Nature is the advancement and enfoldment of life: and everyone should have all that can contribute to the power, elegance, beauty, and richness of life.” To live any other way is actually contrary to our nature and is actually where we experience struggle.
For your Next Act, it does require bravery – bravery to stand up to the status quo thinking, to past beliefs, to living a discontented life.
It is your nature to live a life you love and in which to feel creative. Each one of us has a masterpiece within us, and it is not only our privilege but our responsibility to bring that masterpiece into the world. Doing so will enable us to live a more fulfilling and purpose-led life. So to fully express our inner Masterpiece, why not start with that powerful wonderment of childhood?
